What they need

POSITION: Snow Operations Sidewalk Technician

Location: Client sites across the Rochester, NY area

Schedule: On-call, seasonal — called out for snow events; day, evening, and overnight shifts available. Must have reliable transportation.

Compensation: $20.00–$30.00+/hr

Experience: None required — we will train you

Snow is where winter meets people — and the sidewalks are the front line. Every cleared walkway is a customer who doesn't slip, a shift that starts on time, a hospital entrance that stays open. Our clients across the region depend on it, and it's our crews who make it happen when everyone else is still inside.

If you're not afraid of a shovel at 3am and you want winter work with real pay and shifts that fit your life, this is the crew.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Clear snow and ice from sidewalks and curblines so client sites stay safe and open through every event.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Remove snow from sidewalks and curblines using shovels, snow blowers, snow raiders, and similar equipment

  • Apply deicing products and salt to walkways as needed

  • Work in a team environment, wearing all required PPE

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Reliable and available for call-outs during snow events, including nights and weekends as storms dictate

  • Able to work outdoors in winter conditions and on your feet for extended periods

  • Able to submit to a background check and site badging where client sites require it

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This is physically demanding outdoor work. A Sidewalk Technician must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for the full length of a shift, including on snow- and ice-covered and uneven surfaces

  • Repeatedly bend, twist, lift, and throw snow with a shovel for extended periods

  • Push and maneuver a walk-behind snow blower across uneven ground and inclines

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, such as bags of deicer or salt

  • Climb and descend steps, curbs, and inclines while carrying equipment or product

  • Work outdoors for extended periods in cold, wind, and active precipitation, including overnight shifts

  • Wear all required PPE for the duration of the shift

HOW WE WORK

  • INTEGRITY — Conducting all business with honesty, transparency, and a strong moral compass.

  • RELATIONSHIPS — Focusing on long-term, trust-based connections with both clients and staff.

  • TEAMWORK — Fostering a collaborative environment to deliver seamless design, build, and maintenance projects.

  • QUALITY — Delivering exceptional craftsmanship and using durable materials based on the client's budget, style, and functionality needs.

  • We are looking for valued members of the Josh Landscape Co. team to help us build and maintain outstanding outdoor spaces. This is an important role for us and a great opportunity for the right candidate. If you want to build a career and not just work a season, we'll invest in you.

  • Josh Landscape Co. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are committed to an inclusive workplace where all employees feel respected, supported, and empowered to contribute. This description reflects management's assignment of essential functions and does not restrict tasks that may be assigned.
