Silver & Chrome Plating Engineer – Roles & Responsibilities

• Manage and optimize silver and chrome electroplating processes, ensuring consistent coating quality, thickness, adhesion, appearance, and performance.
• Develop and control plating parameters including current density, voltage, plating time, bath temperature, pH, chemical concentration, and agitation.
• Monitor and maintain plating bath chemistry through chemical analysis, solution control, filtration, anode management, and regular bath maintenance.
• Develop and maintain process parameters, work instructions, control plans, SOPs, and process specifications for silver and chrome plating operations.
• Troubleshoot plating defects such as peeling, blistering, burning, poor adhesion, roughness, discoloration, low/high thickness, porosity, and uneven deposits.
• Conduct process capability studies, SPC, Cp/Cpk analysis, and process audits to improve process stability and reduce rejection and rework.
• Coordinate with Quality, Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams for root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement.
• Support NPI and new plating process development, including feasibility studies, trials, process validation, sample approval, and production implementation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable customer specifications, ASTM/AMS requirements, chemical handling procedures, EHS requirements, and environmental regulations.
• Lead continuous improvement projects focused on plating cycle time, chemical consumption, bath life, productivity, coating performance, rejection reduction, and overall process cost.
