About the Opportunity

At Outwork, we're expanding our engineering capability to support a major global investment manager through a multi-year transformation of its front-to-back investment technology.

The programme involves a strategic move towards BlackRock Aladdin, alongside significant changes to how investment, instrument and security data is managed and distributed across the organisation.

At the centre of this transformation is SimCorp GAIN.

While Aladdin will become the strategic front-to-back platform, a large ecosystem of downstream investment systems and partners will continue to depend on the specialist instrument, issuer and security data managed through GAIN.

The target architecture is:

Aladdin → SimCorp GAIN → Downstream Investment Systems

GAIN will remain a critical component of the technology landscape, receiving and processing upstream data, maintaining data quality and consistency, and supporting downstream systems throughout the transformation.

We're looking for a Senior SimCorp GAIN Engineer to join Outwork and take technical ownership of key elements of this environment.

The Role

This is a senior engineering position focused on technical oversight, solution design, integration delivery and the ongoing evolution of a complex SimCorp GAIN ecosystem.

You'll work closely with engineering teams, SimCorp specialists and investment technology stakeholders to ensure that solutions are technically sound, scalable and delivered to the required standards.

You'll be expected to understand GAIN at a deep technical level, challenge proposed solutions, identify risks and guide engineers through complex implementation problems.

The emphasis is on engineering expertise, technical ownership and delivery leadership rather than day-to-day coding or configuration.

Key Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of SimCorp GAIN engineering and integration workstreams.
• Oversee the design and delivery of Security Master solutions covering instrument, issuer and reference data.
• Guide engineering teams working with GAIN Studio, Data Browser and associated EDM configurations.
• Review and challenge technical designs, integration approaches, data mappings and transformation logic.
• Oversee the integration of upstream data sources, including BlackRock Aladdin, Bloomberg and internal systems.
• Ensure reliable processing, normalisation, cleansing, validation and distribution of investment data.
• Support the design and evolution of complex upstream and downstream data flows.
• Provide technical direction on source prioritisation, Silver/Golden Copy processing, data quality and exception handling.
• Lead technical investigations into complex integration, configuration and data-processing issues.
• Oversee engineering standards, testing, release management and deployment across development, test, production and disaster recovery environments.
• Work alongside existing SimCorp specialists and internal technology teams to reduce external dependencies and strengthen long-term engineering capability.
• Act as a senior technical authority, helping teams resolve difficult problems and make sound engineering decisions.

What We're Looking For

We're particularly interested in engineers with substantial experience of SimCorp GAIN in complex institutional investment environments.

Essential Experience

• Deep technical knowledge of SimCorp GAIN, including its architecture and underlying data-processing capabilities.
• Strong understanding of GAIN Studio, Security Master and Data Browser.
• Extensive experience with instrument, issuer, market and reference-data management.
• Experience designing or overseeing complex data integrations, transformations and EDM workflows.
• Understanding of source-specific processing, normalisation, scrubbing, validation and Golden Copy logic.
• Experience supporting enterprise investment technology platforms and integrations with upstream and downstream systems.
• Ability to review technical implementations, identify weaknesses and provide clear engineering direction.
• Experience working with software engineers, technical consultants and cross-functional delivery teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly within complex or highly customised technology environments.

Highly Desirable

• Previous experience leading SimCorp GAIN engineering or integration workstreams.
• Experience with BlackRock Aladdin integrations or migrations.
• Knowledge of Bloomberg, Refinitiv or other institutional market-data providers.
• Experience with .NET/C#, SQL, XML or enterprise messaging technologies.
• Experience with on-premises application environments, deployment processes and disaster recovery.
• Background within a global asset manager, investment bank, asset owner or institutional investment technology consultancy.
