  • Install, align, and qualify electrodes and workpieces.
  • Create, edit, or optimize EDM programs using machine controls and/or CAM software.
  • Verify dimensions and surface finishes using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, and other advanced measurement equipment when applicable.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain proper machine cleanliness.
  • Troubleshoot machining and process issues to ensure dimensional accuracy and efficient production.
  • Collaborate with mold makers during new mold builds, mold repairs, engineering changes, and production tooling support.
  • Document machining parameters, inspection results, and completed work accurately.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Comply with all company policies, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Requirements Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in machining, mold making, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Three (3) or more years of sinker EDM experience in a mold making or precision machining environment preferred.
  • Experience with plastic injection mold construction and repair strongly preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of EDM machining principles, electrode design, and precision tooling.
  • Experience machining hardened tool steels and using graphite and copper electrodes.
  • Familiarity with CAM software such as NX, SolidWorks, or similar.
  • CNC machining is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.

Physical Demands / Working Conditions

  • Ability to remain in a stationary position or move throughout the manufacturing facility during the workday.
  • Frequently position oneself to inspect, load, unload, and set up tooling and machine components.
  • Frequently operate machinery, computers, and precision measuring instruments requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Frequently communicate with coworkers regarding work instructions, production status, and safety information.
  • Ability to visually inspect machined components, tooling, and measuring equipment, including distinguishing fine detail.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials and tooling weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance. Mechanical lifting devices are available and should be used when appropriate.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machine noise, oils, coolants, metal dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) is provided and required.
  • May be required to work overtime or adjusted schedules to meet production demands.
