What they need

Overview:

We’re recruiting a Site Agent to join an established civil engineering contractor delivering a long-term programme of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the Oxfordshire region. Projects include treatment works, pumping stations, network improvements and stormwater infrastructure, helping to improve the resilience and performance of essential water assets.

Working in an integrated design-and-build environment, you’ll oversee day-to-day site delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on programme and to the required standards. Experience in self-delivery projects is particularly valuable, including coordinating directly employed operatives, plant, materials and site resources alongside subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Plan and coordinate self-delivery activities, managing directly employed operatives, labour, plant, materials and site resources to maintain productivity.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers, overseeing site logistics, procurement and the timely delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Work collaboratively with design, commercial, project management and health and safety teams to resolve issues, manage risks and identify opportunities to improve delivery.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme, maintain accurate site records and provide regular updates to the project team and client.
  • Ensure health, safety, environmental and quality requirements are followed throughout construction.
  • Act as Temporary Works Coordinator where required, overseeing temporary works activities and ensuring installations comply with approved designs and procedures.
  • Support the completion, commissioning and handover of projects, ensuring works meet client requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a Site Agent, Sub Agent or in a similar site management role within civil engineering or infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering water or wastewater projects would be advantageous, particularly treatment works, pumping stations, pipeline networks or wastewater infrastructure.
  • Previous experience with self-delivery projects is strongly preferred, including managing directly employed site teams and coordinating labour, plant and resources.
  • CSCS card and SMSTS certification.
  • HNC, degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Good understanding of civil engineering principles, construction methods and site management.
  • Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple site activities and stakeholders.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites across Oxfordshire and the surrounding region.

Benefits:

  • Company car allowance.
  • 26 days’ annual leave.
  • Enhanced pension scheme.
  • Life assurance and private medical care.
  • Company bonus.
  • Long-term career progression and development opportunities through an established water infrastructure framework.
