An AutoCAD Draftsman for steel structures working at a site prepares precise fabrication, shop, and erection drawings, and resolves on-site design discrepancies.

Job Summary

The site-based AutoCAD Draftsman bridges the gap between engineering designs, workshop fabrication, and actual construction at the job site. They ensure that steel members fit accurately, update drawings according to site modifications, and coordinate directly with site engineers and erection teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Drawing Preparation: Create detailed 2D/3D shop drawings, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, erection plans, and fabrication layouts for structural steel components (columns, beams, trusses, bracing, and connections).
• Site Coordination: Visit the active construction site to take field measurements, verify levels and dimensions, and align physical progress with design intent.
• As-Built Documentation: Update existing drawings to reflect actual site installation changes and produce final "as-built" submittals.
• Discrepancy Resolution: Identify drawing clashes or structural discrepancies on-site and provide quick, accurate drafting solutions to project engineers.
• Material Estimation: Assist with material take-offs, cutting lists, and the preparation of bills of quantities (BOQ) for steel works.
• Compliance: Ensure all adjustments and details comply with local safety and building regulations.

Key Requirements

• Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer-Aided Design.
• Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional experience in structural steel drafting, with exposure to site erection or fabrication environments.
• Software Skills: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD; familiarity with detailing software like Tekla Structures or SolidWorks is a strong advantage.
• Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of steel connections, welding symbols, sections, elevations, and erection procedures.
