SITE CHEMIST

Job Summary

The Chemist is responsible for the formulation, testing, quality control, and technical support of chemical products used in industrial cleaning, oil & gas processes, and related applications. The role ensures compliance with relevant international standards including ISO 9001 (Quality Management), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety), and ISO/IEC 17025 (Laboratory Competence where applicable).

The Chemist will also support field operations, troubleshoot chemical treatment issues, and ensure chemical products meet client specifications and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Chemical Formulation and Development

Develop, formulate, and optimize chemicals used for:

• Industrial chemical cleaning
• Oil & gas process treatment
• Descaling and degreasing
• Corrosion inhibition
• Hydrocarbon removal
• Conduct laboratory experiments to improve product performance, stability, and safety.
• Evaluate new raw materials and chemical technologies.

2. Laboratory Testing and Analysis

• Perform laboratory testing including:

o pH, conductivity, and chemical concentration analysis

o Corrosion rate testing

o Compatibility and stability tests

o Oil contamination and hydrocarbon analysis

• Maintain laboratory equipment calibration and records.
• Ensure laboratory activities comply with ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory practices where applicable.

3. Quality Control and Assurance

• Conduct quality control tests on raw materials and finished chemical products.
• Ensure products comply with ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements.
• Maintain batch records, test reports, and Certificates of Analysis (COA).
• Investigate non-conforming products and recommend corrective actions.

4. Technical Support for Field Operations

• Provide technical guidance for chemical cleaning and oil & gas treatment operations.
• Support site teams in:

o Chemical dosage calculation

o Troubleshooting process issues

o Chemical performance evaluation

• Participate in pre-job planning and post-job analysis.

5. Safety and Environmental Compliance

• Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals.
• Prepare and maintain:

o Safety Data Sheets (SDS)

o Chemical risk assessments

• Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 45001 Occupational

Health & Safety standards.

6. Documentation and Reporting

• Prepare technical reports, laboratory analysis reports, and product documentation.
• Maintain laboratory logs, chemical inventory records, and testing procedures.
• Assist in preparation of documentation required for ISO audits and regulatory inspections.

7. Continuous Improvement and Innovation

• Participate in R&D initiatives to develop new chemical cleaning technologies.
• Support cost reduction through raw material optimization and improved formulations.
• Stay updated with industry regulations and technological advancements in oil & gas chemicals.

Experience

• Minimum 2years and above of relevant working experience in chemical laboratories, industrial chemical manufacturing, or oil & gas chemical services.
• 3 years experience in ISO 17025 accredited laboratory.
• 2 years as certified chemist under Malaysian Institute of Chemistry (MIC)

· Candidate must possess a valid CIDB registration/card. An OGSP (Oil & Gas Safety Passport) card will be an added advantage.

Pay: RM3,500.00 - RM6,000.00 per month
