Site Engineer

About the role

The Site Engineer oversees day-to-day site operations, technical execution, and quality assurance to ensure construction works align with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project schedules. This role acts as a primary technical liaison among consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders, requiring strong on-site leadership and bilingual communication capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Direct, organize, and monitor daily on-site trade activities, ensuring physical progress strictly tracks against the master baseline schedule.
• Facilitate day-to-day site coordination with architects, structural/MEP consultants, subcontractors, and material vendors to resolve constructability conflicts or site discrepancies.
• Lead and participate in technical site coordination meetings; prepare actionable minutes and monitor look-ahead schedules.
• Serve as the key operational liaison with Mandarin-speaking clients, managing technical discussions, site walk-throughs, and project progress updates.
• Review shop drawings, method statements, and technical submittals prior to execution to verify buildability and standard compliance.
• Perform routine site inspections across all structural, architectural, and civil phases, raising Requests for Inspection (RFIs) with the Resident Engineer or consultant team.
• Identify defects, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), formulate corrective/preventive action plans, and track rectification works through to final closure.
• Conduct material receiving inspections to verify that delivered items match approved samples, mill certificates, and project specifications.
• Enforce statutory occupational safety, environmental, and health guidelines alongside corporate Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies across all site zones.
• Compile detailed daily site diaries, weekly progress tracking, and monthly executive status reports covering manpower allocation, equipment deployment, and weather delays.

About you

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent accredited discipline.
• 2–5 years of on-site construction experience in residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Professional working proficiency in English; fluency in spoken and written Mandarin is required to liaise effectively with Chinese clients, main contractors, and technical stakeholders.
• Competent in reading and interpreting structural and architectural blueprints; hands-on familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Project / Primavera P6.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills, firm subcontractor management capability, and willingness to work on-site based on project exigencies.
