About the role

HOMA ENGINEERING (M) SDN BHD is seeking a dedicated Site Engineer (Construction) to join our engineering team on a full-time basis in Penang Island, Penang. This is a pivotal on-site position where you will oversee construction activities, ensure compliance with engineering standards, and manage day-to-day site operations. As Site Engineer, you will play a critical role in translating design specifications into reality whilst maintaining safety, quality and schedule objectives. This role is essential to the successful delivery of our construction projects and requires a hands-on approach with strong technical expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate construction activities on-site to ensure adherence to approved plans, designs and specifications
• Conduct regular site inspections and quality checks to verify that all work meets engineering standards and project requirements
• Monitor project progress and maintain accurate records of daily activities, labour, materials and equipment usage
• Liaise between the design team, contractors, and subcontractors to resolve technical issues and ensure smooth project execution
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations throughout all construction phases
• Prepare and maintain site documentation including daily reports, progress updates and as-built records
• Manage site resources including labour, equipment and materials to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
• Conduct site meetings and communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders
• Identify and resolve construction defects or non-conformances in a timely manner
• Support the project manager with budget tracking, scheduling and risk management

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration or equivalent engineering qualification is highly desirable
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Site Engineer or similar on-site construction management role
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, site safety protocols and engineering best practices
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications and project plans
• Experience with construction scheduling software, project management tools and Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate effectively across multiple teams
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of Malaysian construction standards, regulations and building codes is advantageous
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Able to communicate with Mandarin, Malay and English?
