Site Foreman Operator

Overview

The Site Foreman Operator leads a field crew on new construction projects and operates equipment as needed. This role plans daily work with the superintendent, coordinates with other trades and checks that work meets plans, specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan daily crew assignments, explain work priorities and monitor progress against the project schedule.
• Lead and work alongside crew members; coach on safe methods, workmanship and proper use of tools and equipment.
• Read plans, specifications and site layouts to organize field work and identify questions or conflicts before work proceeds.
• Operate assigned construction equipment safely and precisely for excavation, grading, material handling and related site tasks within the operator’s training and authorization.
• Confirm required utility locating and site controls are in place before excavation; watch for underground services, overhead hazards, workers and changing ground conditions.
• Inspect equipment before use, perform routine care and cleaning, and promptly report defects or repair needs.
• Enforce company safety procedures and applicable jobsite requirements; address unsafe conditions, stop affected work when necessary and report incidents promptly.
• Check completed work for alignment with plans, specifications and quality expectations; arrange corrections when needed.
• Track labor, equipment use, materials, production and jobsite issues, and provide timely daily updates to the superintendent.
• Coordinate material and equipment needs in advance to limit delays and keep the work area orderly.

Qualifications and Skills

• Experience leading & working alongside a construction field crew and operating heavy equipment on active jobsites.
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications and turn them into clear daily work assignments.
• Working knowledge of excavation hazards, utility protection, equipment safety and jobsite safety procedures.
• Ability to operate assigned equipment accurately, recognize operating problems and determine when maintenance or repairs are needed.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills; able to coordinate effectively with supervisors, crew members and other trades.
• Valid certifications including OSHA safety training are required; additional certifications such as First Aid or specialized trade licenses are advantageous

Physical Demands

• Will regularly work near moving mechanical parts or equipment and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue
• Requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination
• Must be able to quickly move arms and legs
• Excellent stamina is required
