Site HSE Manager

CJR Renewables is looking for a hands-on, results-driven Site HSE Manager to lead Health, Safety & Environmental operations on a utility-scale Solar PV + Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) construction project in Alamogordo, NM.

As our Site HSE Manager, you’ll be at the heart of site operations, partnering with construction leadership, subcontractors, and clients to build a strong safety culture and deliver the project responsibly.

WHAT YOU’LL LEAD

• HSE Strategy & Leadership: Develop and implement the site HSE Plan, Emergency Response Plan, and project-specific safety procedures.
• Field Safety & Risk Prevention: Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure effective controls are in place before work begins.
• High-Risk Construction Activities: Oversee safety involving civil works, cranes, lifting and rigging, work at heights, confined spaces, and hazardous energy control.
• OSHA & Regulatory Compliance: Drive compliance with OSHA regulations, client requirements, contractual obligations, and company standards.
• Audits & Inspections: Identify gaps, correct deficiencies, and continuously improve site safety performance.
• Incident Investigation: Lead incident and near-miss investigations using TapRooT® or other root cause analysis methodologies.
• Environmental Protection: Manage environmental risks, spill response, and cleanup activities.
• Training & Safety Culture: Deliver orientations, toolbox talks, and safety awareness initiatives that keep safety front and center.
• Team & Client Engagement: Work closely with construction management, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to ensure everyone is aligned and accountable.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

You must meet ONE of the following qualification pathways:

PATHWAY 1 — EXPERIENCE + DEGREE OR PROFESSIONAL DESIGNATION

• Minimum 5 years of HSE experience in construction on similar projects, AND either: A bachelor's degree in Safety and Health, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field; OR
• A professional HSE designation such as CSP, CIH, CHST, or an equivalent relevant credential.

OR

PATHWAY 2 — EXPERIENCE-BASED QUALIFICATION

• Minimum 7 years of direct HSE experience in construction on similar projects, accepted in lieu of the degree or professional HSE designation requirements above.

Additional experience and knowledge:

• Developing and implementing HSE plans, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures.
• OSHA compliance, construction safety, and environmental risk management.
• Incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
• Crane operations, lifting and rigging, civil works, fall protection, confined spaces, and hazardous energy control.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• The ability to influence safe behaviors and build trust across diverse construction teams.

EXTRA CREDENTIALS THAT MAKE YOU STAND OUT

• TapRooT® or other root cause analysis training.
• BSCP or NASP safety certifications.
• OSHA 500 and/or OSHA 501.
• NCCER Instructor Certification.
• Experience on utility-scale Solar PV and BESS construction projects.
