I think we can all agree it's been a turbulent couple of years, and it would be nice to work with a builder that has grown considerably off the back of repeat business and its own developments.

This established Melbourne builder is seeking an experienced Site Manager to deliver commercial new builds valued up to $15 million across Greater Melbourne. You'll have the autonomy to lead your site and make decisions, with approachable directors who value dependable people and give them room to get on with the job.

The builder's track record includes an $8.4 million school STEM facility and purpose-built early learning centres valued between $5 million and $5.4 million. These projects give you a feel for the scale and variety of the work, from specialist education buildings to childcare facilities.

You'll join a personable team where people take their work seriously and make time for each other. Shared lunches, birthdays and footy tipping are part of the culture, helping you stay connected to the wider business while you're out running your site. The directors are available for advice and support, with the understanding that you bring the experience and judgement to lead delivery.

This will suit someone who takes pride in a well-run site and builds lasting working relationships. You're organised, dependable and confident, making the calls your role requires. You also know when to raise an issue and bring the right people into the conversation.

Extensive commercial new build experience with a head contractor is essential. You must have been the lead Site Manager on comparable projects, delivering through groundworks, structure, services, finishes and handover. Fit-out experience is welcome alongside that background, but substantial new-build delivery is required.

A stable employment history and a strong track record in safety, quality and programme management will be highly regarded. Experience solely with volume residential builders will not meet the requirements.

Salary is up to $200k, including super.
