Job Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the day-to-day delivery of construction works on the Lough Lannagh project in Castlebar, County Mayo.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating site activities, managing subcontractors, monitoring construction progress and ensuring that works are completed safely, to the required quality standards and in accordance with the project programme.

This role requires a strong background in civil construction and site management, with the ability to coordinate multiple work activities, resolve site issues and maintain effective communication with project teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate day-to-day construction activities on site.
• Supervise subcontractors, trades and site personnel to ensure works are completed in accordance with project requirements.
• Coordinate construction sequences, site resources, materials and deliveries to maintain progress.
• Monitor project progress against the construction programme and identify potential delays or issues.
• Ensure construction works are carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications and approved construction methods.
• Review construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies and coordinating their resolution.
• Liaise with the Project Manager, design team, subcontractors and other stakeholders to support effective project delivery.
• Monitor the quality of workmanship and ensure construction activities meet the required standards.
• Implement and maintain site health and safety procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and project requirements.
• Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks and coordination meetings as required.
• Identify and resolve site-based construction issues, escalating technical or programme-related concerns where necessary.
• Monitor the use of materials, equipment and labour to support efficient site operations.
• Maintain accurate site records, progress reports and relevant construction documentation.
• Coordinate inspections, snagging and remedial works through to project completion.
• Ensure the site is maintained in a safe, organised and orderly condition throughout the construction period.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Manager within civil construction or general building construction.
• Experience managing construction activities within commercial or similar built environments.
• Strong experience coordinating subcontractors, trades and site personnel.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and project documentation.
• Experience monitoring construction programmes, progress and site resources.
• Strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
• Experience managing quality control, site inspections and snagging activities.
• Strong organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple site activities effectively.
• Relevant construction, civil engineering or site management qualification is advantageous.
