Site Manager / Structural Works Operative

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Working Site Manager / Structural Works Operative to oversee construction activities while undertaking hands-on structural building work.

This dual-skilled position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who combines strong site supervision capabilities with practical experience in structural alterations, opening-up works and lintel replacement.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise daily site activities, operatives and subcontractors.
• Coordinate work programmes, resources and site progress.
• Undertake structural opening-up and lintel replacement works.
• Ensure structural alterations follow approved drawings, engineering specifications and temporary works arrangements.
• Monitor health and safety compliance, site inspections and working practices.
• Conduct toolbox talks and communicate site requirements.
• Maintain workmanship standards, quality control and site records.
• Coordinate inspections and report progress or potential delays.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in construction site supervision or management.
• Practical experience in structural alterations, masonry and lintel installation.
• Ability to supervise operatives while undertaking hands-on work safely.
• Understanding of RAMS, CDM requirements and construction site safety.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications and Certifications

• Relevant CSCS card appropriate to the work, where required.
• SSSTS or SMSTS certification desirable, appropriate to supervisory responsibilities.
• Demonstrable competence in structural building works.
• Relevant construction trade qualifications desirable.
