Site Quantity Surveyor

About the role

Yu Tong Construction Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced Site Quantity Surveyor to join our team in Penang. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a crucial role in managing the quantity and contractual aspects of our construction projects. As a Site Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for ensuring quantity control, contract administration, and accurate project subon quantity take off. This role is strategically important to our operations, directly impacting project profitability and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain accurate take off of subcon claim
• Conduct regular site inspections and measurements to verify work completed against contract specifications
• Manage variations and change orders, ensuring proper documentation and approval processes
• Prepare monthly interim valuations and final account submissions for client approval
• Monitor project expenditure and identify potential cost overruns or savings opportunities
• Review and analyse supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive pricing
• Maintain detailed project documentation, including contracts, purchase orders and payment records
• Liaise with project managers, architects, engineers and clients regarding cost and contractual matters
• Assist in tender preparation and cost analysis for new projects
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and relevant construction standards

What we're looking for

• Diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying, or related discipline

• Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a Site Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry

• Strong knowledge of contract administration, cost management and valuation practices

• Proficiency in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications

• Excellent numerical and calculation skills with meticulous attention to detail

• Strong communication and negotiation abilities

• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

• Sound understanding of building and construction regulations applicable in Malaysia

• Proven track record in managing projects of varying sizes and complexity
