Site Reliability Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a newly formed, international SRE team supporting critical Markets Technology platforms for a leading global bank. You will ensure the reliability and stability of global financial systems while collaborating closely with a central observability platform team. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine traditional SRE practices with the development of AI-driven solutions. Key Responsibilities

• Monitor global trading platforms, handle production incidents, and perform root cause analysis.
• Diagnose production issues and implement permanent fixes to prevent future recurrences.
• Manage platform capacity and maintain the stability of highly critical on-premises environments.
• Build AI agents to automate routine system health checks (such as start of day and start of week verifications).
• Automate the monitoring of pre-trade, post-trade, settlements, and order flows.
• Utilize LLMs and AI Copilot tools to accelerate troubleshooting and operational decision-making.
• Collaborate on a central observability platform, utilizing dedicated training to develop custom AI agents.
• Work autonomously within a high-stakes environment, managing daily priorities independently.

Candidate Profile

• Level of Experience: Solid background in Site Reliability Engineering, including incident management, production support, and capacity planning.
• Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in highly available, mission-critical environments.
• Scripting & Coding: Strong proficiency in Python (highly preferred), alongside knowledge of Java or shell scripting.
• Observability Stack: Practical, hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
• Infrastructure: Deep experience working with on-premises infrastructure (public cloud experience is only needed to a limited extent).
• Soft Skills & Languages: High level of independence, self-direction, and fluent English for seamless international collaboration.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO).
• Hands-on experience building or interacting with AI agents and prompt engineering.
• Previous background in the banking sector or similar high-complexity environments (such as fintech, telecommunications, or large-scale e-commerce).
