Site safety supervisor

About the role

Mascot Borneo Engineering Sdn Bhd is seeking an experienced and dedicated Site Safety Supervisor to join our team in Bintulu, Sarawak. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining and promoting a safe working environment across our construction projects. As Site Safety Supervisor, you will be responsible for implementing, monitoring and enforcing safety protocols to protect all personnel on site and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company standards. This position is integral to our commitment to zero-harm operations and represents a key leadership role within our health, safety and environmental management framework.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations
• Develop, implement and communicate comprehensive site-specific safety plans and procedures tailored to project requirements
• Provide safety induction and training to all site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors, ensuring understanding of safety requirements
• Investigate and document all incidents, near-misses and accidents, preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions
• Monitor the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and site safety equipment, ensuring maintenance and compliance
• Coordinate with project managers, health and safety teams and regulatory authorities to maintain and improve safety performance
• Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings to reinforce safety awareness and best practices among work teams
• Maintain accurate safety records, documentation and statistical data for reporting and continuous improvement
• Identify training needs and arrange appropriate health and safety courses for site personnel
• Liaise with external stakeholders including clients, authorities and safety consultants regarding site safety matters

What we're looking for

• Relevant health and safety qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, DOSH or equivalent recognised certification in occupational health and safety
• Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Safety Supervisor or similar role within the construction industry
• Proven knowledge of Malaysian construction safety regulations, guidelines and industry best practices
• Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment and control measures in construction environments
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with personnel at all levels
• Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations, prepare reports and maintain detailed safety documentation
• Sound knowledge of emergency procedures, first aid and incident response protocols
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail in maintaining safety standards and records
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
• Experience with safety management systems and incident tracking software is preferred
• Valid driver's licence is advantageous
