Site Work Operator

Job Summary

Duties

• Operate heavy machinery including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and backhoes to perform excavation, grading, and site preparation tasks.
• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on construction equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
• Perform utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation begins, preventing damage and ensuring safety.
• Assist with horizontal drilling operations and other utility installation activities following project specifications.
• Follow all safety procedures and federal construction safety regulations during equipment operation and site work activities.
• Support construction grading efforts to achieve precise elevation levels for paving or foundation work.
• Collaborate with team members on construction site tasks such as paving, utility work, and site cleanup to meet project deadlines efficiently.

Experience

• Proven experience operating heavy construction machinery such as excavators (including Caterpillar models), dozers, loaders, graders, backhoes, water trucks, dump trucks, tankers, and horizontal drilling equipment.
• Strong knowledge of construction utilities work including utility locating and installation techniques.
• Familiarity with construction safety regulations and equipment safety procedures is essential.
• Prior experience in excavation, grading, paving or general construction site work is highly desirable.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues quickly.
• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) or equivalent for commercial truck driving is preferred.
• Construction or heavy equipment operation certifications are a plus but not mandatory; relevant on-the-job experience is highly valued.

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
