About The Role

The Sizing Technician supports the workroom by accurately measuring and cutting partially fabricated drapery to its final finished dimensions prior to pleating or assembly. Sizing is the primary focus of this role and is critical to ensuring every product is manufactured to specification. When production demands allow, the Sizing Technician will also assist with other areas of the workroom, helping maintain an efficient workflow and supporting the wider team where needed. Key responsibilities include:

• Calculate, measure, and cut partially fabricated drapery to precise finished dimensions, using both flat table clamps and suspended track systems

• Follow worksheets and production specifications accurately

• Inspect work for quality and identify any discrepancies before progressing to the next stage

• Fold, handle, and move fabrics safely through the production process

• Maintain a solid understanding of our standard products and production methods

• Track and record billable time spent on certain projects

• Collaborate with other makers to establish adjustments and allowances as required on a job by job basis

• Provide support to other production areas, including pressing, sewing, pleating, fabric cutting, and assembly, when workload permits or business priorities require

About You

Our ideal candidate will be experienced in measuring and cutting a variety of textiles by hand to extremely precise measurements. Previous experience in a drapery workroom is considered an asset, but not required. You will thrive in this role with the following:

• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to work to extremely precise measurements

• Highly accurate with strong numerical and basic mathematical skills

• Commitment to producing consistently high-quality workmanship

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Able to safely lift and manoeuvre items weighing up to 25 kg without assistance

• Helpful, friendly attitude and dedication to working collaboratively as part of a team

• Versatile and adaptable, with the willingness to learn new skills, adjust processes as required, and assist across multiple areas of the workroom as production demands change

• Comfortable operating a variety of industrial sewing machines, including plain stitch, blind stitch, overlocker, and bar tacker

• Good critical thinking and problem-solving skills
