WE’RE HIRING: WEEKEND SKATING INSTRUCTORS
NHTC Langley | Part-Time

NHTC Langley is looking for enthusiastic, reliable skating instructors to join our weekend team!

We’re seeking strong skaters who enjoy helping participants build confidence, develop their skills and have fun on the ice.

Responsibilities:

• Lead skating lessons suited to participants’ ages and abilities.
• Teach skating fundamentals through clear instruction and engaging activities.
• Create a safe, positive and welcoming environment.
• Communicate professionally with participants, parents and staff.

What we’re looking for:

• Strong skating skills.
• Experience teaching skating or coaching hockey is an asset.
• A patient, encouraging approach, especially when working with children and beginners.
• Reliable weekend availability.

Location: NHTC Langley and NHTC Academy Rink
Schedule: Weekends — [Saturday and Sundays mornings / afternoons]
Compensation: $20-$25 per hour

• Lead engaging skating lessons tailored to various skill levels, from beginners to intermediate skaters
• Teach fundamental skating techniques, including balance, coordination, and proper use of equipment
• Incorporate swimming safety awareness into lessons when applicable, emphasizing water safety skills
• Ensure all participants follow safety guidelines and maintain a safe environment on the ice rink
• Provide constructive feedback to help students improve their skills and build confidence
• Organize fun drills, games, and activities that promote teamwork and enjoyment
• Maintain equipment and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the skating area at all times

Requirements

• Proven experience in teaching skating or related sports, with a passion for instructing others
• Strong knowledge of skating techniques and safety procedures on ice surfaces
• Excellent communication skills to motivate and engage learners of all ages
• Ability to demonstrate patience, enthusiasm, and adaptability in a dynamic environment
• Must be able to stand, move, and demonstrate skills for extended periods during lessons

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 5.0 – 10.0 per week
