Skidsteer/Loader Operator

About the Position

Coastal Matting Ltd. is looking for a reliable, safety-conscious Night Shift Skid-Steer / Loader Operator to join our team at our Coastal Matting manufacturing facility in Merritt, BC.

This role is responsible for operating equipment to support the manufacturing and handling of wooden access mats. The successful candidate will play an important role in keeping our production facility running efficiently throughout the night shift.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, operates equipment safely, and understands the importance of teamwork and maintaining a productive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate skid-steer and loader equipment safely and efficiently within the manufacturing yard.
• Move, position, and organize lumber, finished mats, and other materials as required.
• Support daily mat manufacturing and production activities.
• Load, unload, and stage materials for production and transportation.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report any defects or maintenance concerns.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety procedures, safe work practices, and supervisor instructions.
• Communicate effectively with production staff and management to keep operations running smoothly.
• Perform other duties as required to support facility operations.

Qualifications

• Previous skid-steer and/or loader operating experience required.
• Experience in a lumber yard, manufacturing facility, construction yard, or similar industrial environment is an asset.
• Strong awareness of equipment safety and pedestrian hazards.
• Ability to work independently and remain productive during night shifts.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a safe workplace.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks as required.
• Valid driver's licence is an asset.
