Skill Assessor - Rental Operations

Key Responsibilities

• Skills Assessment and Trade Testing: Assess the skills and knowledge of existing machine operators nationwide and conduct trade tests for machine operator applicants to determine their competency and suitability for specific projects.
• On-Site Machine Training: Deliver hands-on training on the proper operation and application of heavy equipment to improve productivity, equipment lifespan, and safe operating practices.
• Operator Development: Assist in facilitating the Operator Development Training Program, including practical, on-the-machine training for individuals with little or no prior operating experience.
• Training and Development: Update and implement operator assessment criteria in accordance with Caterpillar standards. Support customer training activities through hands-on equipment demonstrations in coordination with Sales Account Managers and Application Engineers.
• Site Inspection: Conduct project site inspections to verify compliance with company policies and safety procedures. Perform advance site assessments to support operational planning and project readiness.
• Documentation and Records Management: Maintain accurate physical and electronic records of operator assessments, training activities, reports, training materials, and related operational documents.
• Accident Investigation: Investigate equipment-related accidents, identify root causes and contributing factors, and recommend corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
• Health, Safety, and Contamination Control: Promote compliance with company safety policies, contamination control procedures, and applicable government regulations while maintaining a safe and orderly work environment.
• Asset Management: Ensure the proper use, care, and safekeeping of assigned company equipment and resources.
• Continuous Improvement: Follow established business processes and quality standards, identify opportunities for improvement, and recommend initiatives that enhance training effectiveness and operational performance.

Qualifications

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent, including ALS Accreditation and Equivalency Test.

Experience

• At least five (5) years of continuous machine operation experience.
• Must be capable of operating at least three (3) major machine families.
• Candidates with seven (7) or more years of continuous machine operation experience and proficiency across most machine families are preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Professional Driver’s License with Restriction Code 8.
• TESDA certification for the machine types the candidate is qualified to operate.
• Caterpillar Certified Dealer Instructor qualification is preferred.
• Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program certification and TESDA Assessor certification are an advantage.

Working Conditions

• Work assignments include both office-based activities and customer project sites.
• Requires regular local travel and possible deployment to project sites nationwide.
• Must be comfortable conducting hands-on training and equipment demonstrations in actual operating environments.
