Skilled Labourer - Demolition

OnSite Demolition Inc. is seeking an experienced Skilled Demolition Labourer to join our team on a subcontract basis. We are looking for someone who can confidently perform selective demolition, safely operate demolition tools, and complete assigned work with minimal supervision while following the site supervisor’s direction.

The ideal candidate is reliable, takes pride in their work, and understands the importance of protecting surrounding areas, maintaining a clean job site, and working safely.

Responsibilities

• Perform interior and exterior demolition according to the project scope and supervisor’s instructions.
• Remove flooring, tile, drywall, ceilings, cabinetry, fixtures, and other designated materials.
• Complete selective demolition while protecting finishes and structures that are to remain.
• Safely operate demolition tools, including reciprocating saws, rotary hammers, jackhammers, grinders, and other hand and power tools.
• Assess assigned tasks, select appropriate tools, and carry out work efficiently.
• Identify potential hazards, concealed services, or unexpected materials and report them to the supervisor before proceeding.
• Sort, load, and remove demolition debris, keeping work areas clean and organized.
• Set up and maintain site protection and dust-control measures as directed.
• Inspect and maintain tools and equipment, reporting defects or damage.
• Work collaboratively with the crew to meet project timelines.
• Follow site safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.

Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of demolition work.

Required Qualifications

• At least 2 years of hands-on demolition or related construction experience, including experience performing selective demolition.
• Confidence using demolition tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision while following instructions and recognizing when to seek guidance.
• Understanding of demolition sequencing, site protection, and safe debris handling.
• Physical ability to perform demanding work, including lifting, carrying, bending, and standing for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail, dependable attendance, and a commitment to safety.
• Valid G Driver’s Licence and a clean driver’s abstract.
• Own reliable vehicle and ability to travel daily throughout the region and neighbouring regions.

Additional Assets

• Experience removing tile, flooring, concrete, or masonry.
• Ability to interpret drawings and identify demolition limits.
• Experience working in occupied buildings or around finishes that must be protected.
