Primary Purpose:

Support Journeyman Plumber in the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping and fixture systems.

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in plumbing

Effective planning and organizational skills

Experience:

5 to 8 years of field experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Read blueprints and follow state and local building codes.

2. Determine the materials and equipment needed for a job.

3. Install pipes and fixtures.

4. Inspect and test installed pipe systems and pipelines.

5. Troubleshooting malfunctioning systems.

6. Maintain and repair plumbing systems.

7. Install and repair water, gas, and other piping systems in the district facilities.

8. Install plumbing fixtures, such as sinks and toilets, and appliances, such as dishwashers and water heaters.

9. Clean drains, remove obstructions and repair or replace broken pipes and fixtures.

10. Also help maintain septic systems—large, underground holding tanks that collect waste from the district facilities not connected to a sewer system.

Plumbing tools and equipment including pipe bender, propane torch; hand tools; power tools; heavy equipment including forklift, trencher, backhoe; light truck or van

• Maintain emotional control under stress

• Frequent standing, walking, pushing, and pulling

• Moderate lifting and carrying some stooping, bending, and kneeling

• Limited exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures

• Minimum Salary $21.30 hourly

• Salary is commensurate with experience

• Works 260 Day Calendar
