What they need

We are MAD Colour, a well-established, family-owned design, print and manufacturing company specialising in the events and fit-out sectors, producing ‘Creativity Materialised’.

Due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a  Skilled Workshop & Installation Operative

to join our busy and dedicated team.

This is a varied, hands-on position for someone with practical joinery skills who enjoys working across different projects and disciplines. You could be helping to manufacture a custom display one day, setting up a REXframe structure the next, and supporting the finishing or installation of a large-format graphics project after that.

No two days are ever the same.

About You

You do not need to be a fully qualified joiner, but you should have a few years’ practical experience in joinery, carpentry, fit-out, construction, exhibition production or a similar hands-on environment.

We are looking for a skilled and adaptable person who is comfortable using hand and power tools, can understand measurements and basic drawings, and takes pride in producing high-quality work.

You will be based primarily in our workshop but will also work as part of cross-functional teams across the business.

This may include:

  • Supporting joinery and custom manufacturing projects
  • Preparing and assembling exhibition and event structures
  • Building and installing reusable REXframe display systems
  • Assisting with large-format print finishing and preparation
  • Loading, delivering and installing projects on client sites
  • Supporting other production activities when required

Projects are installed mostly locally, although occasional travel and overnight stays may be required.

Who We Are Looking For

To be successful, applicants will need to demonstrate the following:

  • A few years’ practical experience in joinery, carpentry, fit-out, construction or a similar hands-on role
  • Basic joinery skills and confidence using hand and power tools
  • The ability to measure accurately and work from basic drawings or instructions
  • A practical, adaptable approach and willingness to learn new skills
  • The ability to move between workshop, production and on-site installation activities
  • Good attention to detail and pride in the quality of finished work
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Good communication skills and a professional manner when working on client sites
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality, housekeeping, and health and safety
  • The physical ability to handle materials, equipment and finished products safely

Experience in exhibitions, events, signage, large-format print finishing or installation would be useful, but it is not essential. Full training will be provided in the specialist areas of the role.

In Return We Are Offering:

  • Hourly wage dependent on skills, knowledge and experience
  • Working hours of Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 4.00pm
  • Overtime available in line with business needs, paid at time and a half
  • 31 days’ annual leave, including bank holidays, increasing by one day per year to 34 days
  • Training across our workshop, production and installation activities
  • The opportunity to develop a broad and valuable practical skill set
  • A varied role working on creative projects for leading local and national brands

To Apply

Please email  [email protected]

 with:

  • Your name and contact number
  • A short outline of your relevant experience
  • The types of tools, materials and projects you have previously worked with

Deadline for applications: Friday 30th October

What to Expect:

Our Belfast facility is based on the edge of the city in Castlereagh. We have an open-plan, friendly atmosphere and are a team that prides itself on working well together.

We have been around since 1977, beginning as a commercial printer and growing into a multidisciplinary business offering creative design, interior spaces, exhibition, print and digital solutions.

We are a second-generation family business with strong values, and we are focused on bringing together talented people who take pride in their work and want to develop their skills.

Our clients include some of the biggest names in the local market, giving our team the opportunity to work on creative briefs for leading brands across retail, property, beauty, entertainment and the public sector.
