Orbus Ferries and Queenstown Boat Charters are seeking an experienced Skipper to operate our passenger vessels on Lake Wakatipu. This role also includes opportunities skippering for other exciting brands within the Watersports Queenstown group, such as Hydro Attack's support vessel and Queenstown Paraflights.

You’ll be responsible for delivering safe, professional, and enjoyable journeys while showcasing the stunning landscapes of Queenstown to our guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate a range of vessels, including ferries, charter boats, and with the potential of future career progression into onto our parasailing vessel.
• Deliver exceptional guest experiences with engaging commentary and warm hospitality.
• Ensure all safety procedures are followed, and vessels are maintained to a high standard.
• Accurately complete vessel logbooks, passenger manifests and onboard payments via Eftpos and Bee Card.
• Work collaboratively with our wider marine operations team.
• Assist with docking, passenger boarding, and vessel upkeep as required

Requirements:

• SRL (Skipper Restricted Limits) or a ringfenced ILM (inshore launch master)
• 1 year of practical experience (preferred).
• Passenger endorsement (advantageous).
• Strong safety awareness and vessel handling skills.
• Confident communicator with excellent customer service skills.
• Flexible to work shifts, evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
• Willingness to work across various vessels and brands within the group.

This role is based on an 80-hour fortnight, working on a rotating roster. Shifts start as early as 7:30am and run into the evening, with a mix of early, late, and daytime shifts to suit operational needs. You will typically have two consecutive set days off.
