Slitter Operator

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Slitter Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating slitting machines to accurately cut large rolls of sheet metal or other materials into specified widths and lengths, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to safety standards. Your expertise in machine operation, measurement, and fabrication will contribute to efficient production processes and top-tier product quality. Duties

• Set up and operate slitting machines, ensuring proper tooling, calibration, and safety procedures are followed for each job.
• Interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine cutting parameters and material requirements.
• Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify dimensions and ensure precise cuts meet quality standards.
• Perform routine maintenance on slitting equipment, including adjustments and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Conduct quality inspections throughout the process, identifying any defects or deviations from specifications and making necessary adjustments.
• Follow safety protocols diligently, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to manufacturing safety standards.
• Collaborate with team members on material handling using forklifts or other lifting equipment when necessary for efficient workflow.

Skills

• Proficiency in machine operation of slitting equipment along with knowledge of CNC laser cutting, plasma cutting, CNC milling machines, CNC lathe, stamping presses, press brake machines, and electrical discharge machining (EDM).
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret mechanical blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
• Experience with CNC programming and shop math for setting up machining processes efficiently.
• Skilled in measurement techniques using precision measurement instruments for quality control purposes.
• Familiarity with metal fabrication processes including sheet metal fabrication, forming machines, welding, and assembly.
• Ability to operate hand tools and fabrication tools safely while maintaining high standards of precision.
• Understanding of safety standards in production environments along with safety protocol adherence during machine setup and operation.
• Knowledge of tooling setup, machining tool calibration, and quality inspection procedures to ensure consistent product quality.
• Basic math skills necessary for measurement calculations and process adjustments in manufacturing settings.

Pay: $25.24 - $32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 60.0 per week
