Small Engine Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues with small engines, including lawnmowers, chainsaws, generators, and other power equipment using schematics and technical manuals
• Perform repairs on small engines and related mechanical systems, including engine overhaul, electrical diagnostics, and component replacement
• Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups to ensure equipment runs smoothly
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and heavy lifting techniques safely and effectively during repair procedures
• Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical faults accurately
• Test repaired equipment for proper operation and safety compliance before returning it to customers
• Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inventory logs for all repairs performed

Skills

• Proven dealership experience or service technician background in small engine repair or automotive repair
• Strong mechanical knowledge of engines, electrical systems, and heavy machinery such as Caterpillar or similar brands
• Skilled in reading schematics, electrical diagnostics, and troubleshooting complex mechanical issues
• Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and other shop hardware
• Experience with diesel engine repair and generator maintenance is highly desirable
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining manual handling best practices
• Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to communicate technical information clearly
• Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and equipment repair standards

Pay: $110.00 - $150.00 per day
