About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Small Engine Technician to join our team at Cherry Valley Landscape Center. Located at 7711 Newburg Rd, Rockford, IL. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, generators, chainsaws, and other outdoor power equipment. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys mechanical problem‑solving and takes pride in high‑quality workmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel‑system issues on small engines
• Perform routine maintenance, tune‑ups, and preventative service
• Repair or replace parts including carburetors, ignition systems, belts, blades, and filters
• Test equipment to ensure proper operation after service
• Maintain accurate repair records and communicate clearly with customers
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and safe
• Provide excellent customer service and support

Qualifications

• Experience working with small engines (Experience a must)
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read service manuals and follow technical instructions
• Familiarity with common tools and diagnostic equipment
• Reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently
• Valid driver’s license required
• Certification in small engine repair is a plus but not required
• Must have tools

Work Environment

This position involves hands‑on mechanical work in a shop setting. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in varying temperatures depending on the season.
