Small Group K-10 Tutor

Mortdale | Wednesdays 3:30–6:00pm | Potential for Additional Hours

About Future Focus Hub

Future Focus Hub is more than a traditional tutoring centre.

Based in Mortdale, we provide small-group tutoring for students from K–10, with a particular focus on supporting children who may not find school or learning easy.

Many of our students are neurodivergent, experience low confidence or motivation, have additional learning needs, or may present with behavioural or emotional regulation challenges.

We care about academic progress, but we know that sometimes connection has to come before learning.

Our tutors take the time to understand the child in front of them, build trust and create an environment where students feel supported, capable and willing to have a go.

The Role

We're looking for a warm, reliable and engaging K-10 Tutor to join our team.

Starting: Term 4
Day: Wednesdays
Hours: Approximately 3:30pm–6:00pm
Location: Mortdale Community Centre
Subjects: Maths and/or English
Format: Small-group tutoring, maximum 4 students per group

The role will initially begin with one afternoon per week, with the potential for additional centre hours as Future Focus Hub continues to grow.

Who We're Looking For

For us, being a great tutor isn't just about being good at Maths or English.

We're looking for someone who:

• Genuinely enjoys working with children
• Is warm, patient and encouraging
• Can connect with a child who might not immediately want to engage
• Can remain calm and supportive when behaviour becomes challenging
• Is comfortable adapting when something isn't working
• Understands that not every child learns, communicates or engages in the same way
• Can balance kindness and understanding with clear boundaries
• Is confident communicating with both students and parents
• Is dependable and takes their role seriously
• Is open to feedback, reflection and learning

Experience working with neurodivergent children, additional learning needs, behavioural challenges or emotional regulation difficulties is highly valued.

We'd particularly love to hear from university students studying teaching, psychology, social work, youth work, occupational therapy or a related field.

However, your ability to build genuine relationships with young people matters just as much to us as what's on your résumé.

Why Join Future Focus Hub?

• Competitive casual wages
• Small groups of no more than four students
• Predictable, term-based hours
• Ongoing support and mentorship
• Opportunities to develop your skills working with diverse learners
• Potential for additional hours as the centre grows
• A small, supportive and purpose-driven team

If you're looking for a tutoring job where you simply deliver worksheets and go home, this probably isn't the role for you.

But if you believe education can change when a young person feels understood, capable and connected, we'd love to hear from you!
