Smart Repair Technician - Back Shift

About the role:

Big Motoring World is a fast growing car supermarket and we are looking for a motivated and reliable SMART Repair Technician to join our team at our Preparation Centre in Peterborough.

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced technicians in a busy and fast-paced environment where quality and efficiency are key. You will play an important role in ensuring our vehicles are thoroughly inspected, checked and prepared to meet our quality and safety standards, which are checked by the RAC before they reach our customers. You will be responsible for restoring minor cosmetic damage as well as fabric and glass repairs . You will be supported by an experienced team with opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career.

This is a non-customer facing role, allowing you to focus on vehicle inspections, preparation and delivering high standards of workmanship behind the scenes.

Shift pattern: Monday - Thursday 15.00 - 00.30 & Friday 15.00 - 19.00, no weekend work required

Key Responsibilities:

• Remove minor scratches, scuffs and paintwork defects using machine polishing and other appropriate repair techniques.
• Carry out a range of SMART repairs, including cosmetic paintwork, plastic, glass and interior fabric repairs.
• Prepare vehicles and damaged areas for paintwork, including cleaning, sanding, masking and priming where required.
• Carry out smart repairs to painted and diamond alloy wheels to a high standard
• Complete all SMART repair work across a wide range of vehicle makes and models
• Ensure all work is carried out maintaining consistently high standards of quality, safety and attention to detail.
• Carry out minor cosmetic damage repairs to a high standard
• Keep up to date with industry developments, products and SMART repair techniques, continually developing your knowledge and skills to improve the quality and efficiency of repairs.

Person Specification:

• Prior experience working as a SMART repairer or within a vehicle preparation environment is desirable
• Prior experience of working to output targets
• A sharp eye for detail and pride in your workmanship.
• A commitment to high standards in your work and your workspace
• Must have a valid, full UK licence (Essential) - Any job offer that requires driving company vehicles is subject to a DVLA check, and applicants with six or more penalty points or a previous disqualification may not meet our insurance requirements and therefore may not be eligible for employment.
