SMT Engineer / SMT Technician

About the role

ALTATRONIC INTERNATIONAL CO., LTD is seeking a skilled SMT Engineer / SMT Technician to join our engineering team on a full-time basis at our facility in Pluak Daeng, Rayong. This position is pivotal to ensuring the quality, efficiency and reliability of our surface mount technology (SMT) operations. As an SMT Engineer / Technician, you will be responsible for managing and optimising our SMT production processes, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining the highest standards of electronic assembly. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the manufacturing of precision electronic components that serve critical applications across multiple industries.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and monitor SMT equipment including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, and inspection systems to ensure consistent production output and quality standards
• Perform machine setup, calibration, and maintenance procedures in accordance with established protocols and technical specifications
• Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostic testing to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions and process-related issues
• Inspect printed circuit board (PCB) assemblies using automated optical inspection (AOI) systems and perform manual quality checks to verify component placement accuracy and solder quality
• Maintain detailed records of production runs, equipment performance, maintenance activities and quality metrics
• Collaborate with design and engineering teams to optimise assembly processes and implement process improvements
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and company quality procedures
• Train and support junior technicians on SMT equipment operation and best practices
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase production efficiency and reduce defects

What we're looking for

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification
• Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on experience working with SMT equipment and processes in a manufacturing environment
• Strong knowledge of SMT assembly techniques, component placement, soldering processes and quality standards such as IPC-A-610
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electronic circuit diagrams, PCB layouts and technical specifications
• Experience with automated optical inspection (AOI) systems and other quality control equipment
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to fault diagnosis
• Ability to work accurately under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced production environment
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Familiarity with manufacturing software and data collection systems is desirable
• Certification in SMT processes or equipment operation from recognised training programmes is advantageous
