SMT PROCESS ENGINEER

About the role

Dynamic Precision Philippines Corp. is seeking a talented SMT Process Engineer to join our engineering team in Angeles City, Pampanga. This is a full-time position that offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge surface mount technology (SMT) processes in the electronics manufacturing sector. As an SMT Process Engineer, you will be responsible for developing, optimising and maintaining SMT processes to ensure the highest quality standards and production efficiency. This role is critical to our manufacturing operations and directly impacts product quality, cost efficiency and overall business success.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and optimise SMT process parameters to meet production requirements and quality standards
• Conduct process capability studies and statistical analysis to ensure consistent product quality
• Troubleshoot and resolve process-related defects, including solder joint failures, component misalignment and placement accuracy issues
• Collaborate with design engineering and manufacturing teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and design for manufacturability (DFM) initiatives
• Perform equipment maintenance, calibration and preventive maintenance coordination with equipment vendors
• Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions for SMT equipment operation
• Conduct process audits and implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and enhance efficiency
• Provide technical support and training to production operators and technicians on SMT equipment and processes
• Monitor and analyse production data to identify trends and implement corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and customer requirements

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline
• 3+ years of proven experience as an SMT Process Engineer or in a similar process engineering role within electronics manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of SMT equipment, including pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens, solder paste printers and automated optical inspection (AOI) systems
• Proficiency in process optimisation techniques, statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE)
• Experience with IPC standards, particularly IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and IPC-J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyse root causes of manufacturing defects
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
• Proficiency in using manufacturing execution system (MES) software and process engineering tools
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards
• Preferred: Experience with lead-free soldering processes and environmental compliance requirements
• Preferred: Familiarity with ESD (electrostatic discharge) protocols and clean room environment
