SMT Process Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a talented SMT Process Engineer to join our team at INVENTEC APPLIANCES (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD.' in Bayan Lepas, Penang. As an SMT Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role in optimising and maintaining our state-of-the-art Surface Mount Technology (SMT) production lines, ensuring efficient and high-quality manufacturing processes. This full-time position offers an opportunity to contribute to the success of our Electrical/Electronic Engineering operations.

What you'll be doing

• Process development and improvement: ​

Design, implement, and optimize SMT processes to enhance yield, quality, and efficiency. ​

• Equipment management: ​

Program and troubleshoot SMT machinery, perform routine maintenance, and ensure proper operation. ​

• Quality assurance: ​

Monitor production to ensure quality standards are met, troubleshoot defects, and analyze root causes of issues. ​

• Line setup and optimization: ​

Plan line setups, balance the line speed, and conduct SPC (Statistical Process Control) and profile measurements. ​

• Collaboration: ​

Work with design engineers on design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) considerations. ​

• Problem-solving: ​

Identify and resolve issues that arise during the SMT process, such as component placement errors or quality feedback.

• Responsible for SMT line issues (screen print, component mount, reflow, flux cleaning) and internal/external quality feedback.​
• ​Troubleshoot the root cause & apply precise corrective action to the issue.​
  Carry out process analysis pertaining to SMT components and produce 8D report to IQA.​
• ​Hands-on experience in interfacing with design engineers on design fabrication (DFF), design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an SMT process engineering role, preferably in the electronics manufacturing industry
• Proficient in understanding and troubleshooting SMT equipment, such as pick-and-place machines, reflow ovens and inspection systems
• Knowledge of quality standards, such as IPC.​
• Familiarity with DFM/DFA principles.​
• Ability to analyze data and conduct root cause analysis.​
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Familiarity with quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing principles
• Proficient in using data analysis tools and process control software
