SMT Project Manager / Assistant Project Manager

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced SMT Project Manager to drive customer accounts and lead the full lifecycle of electronic manufacturing services (EMS) projects. You will oversee the complete transition from quotation and prototyping through trial production and mass delivery, ensuring production yield, timing, and customer satisfaction targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full project lifecycle: RFQ/quotation, sample build, trial production ramp-up, mass production handover, and project closure.
• Serve as the primary operational and technical interface for local and overseas clients regarding delivery dates, specifications, and issues.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration across PMC, SMT Engineering, Production, Quality, Sourcing, and Warehouse teams.
• Control Engineering Change Notices (ECN) and material phase-in/phase-out to eliminate obsolete materials and prevent mixed builds.
• Proactively monitor component supply chains, identify long-lead-time IC shortages, and establish contingency buffers.
• Lead resolution teams for delivery anomalies or quality claims, coordinating root-cause analysis and customer 8D reports.

Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or Supply Chain.
• 3+ years of project management experience in SMT assembly and EMS OEM environments.
• Strong technical understanding of the complete SMT process (printing, placement, reflow, AOI, X-ray, DIP, box-build) and common soldering defect mechanisms.
• Proficiency in reading PCB layouts, BOMs, schematics, and ECN records.
• Working experience with ERP systems (SAP, Kingdee, Digiwin) and advanced Excel (Gantt charts, PivotTables).
• Strong professional English communication skills for client-facing reporting and emails.
• Knowledge of automotive electronics (IATF 16949) or medical device standards is an advantage.

Pay: RM6,000.00 - RM9,000.00 per month
