What they need
Battista Landscape is hiring Snow Plow/Truck Operators and Machine Operators for seasonal, hourly work from November 15 through March 15. Based in Little Falls, New Jersey, these roles travel across assigned snow routes and sites to keep customers moving safely through winter storms. Plow/Truck Operators operate plow trucks and spreaders on assigned plowing and salt routes; Machine Operators operate loaders, skid steers, and other heavy snow equipment. Join a team that values dependable service, craftsmanship, environmental stewardship, and care for customer property. Storm work requires availability for overnight shifts, weekends, and changing weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, inspect, operate, and reset assigned trucks or equipment for snow and ice events.
- Complete plowing, salting, or machine assignments according to route sheets, site maps, and service priorities.
- Operate safely around curbs, islands, parked vehicles, walkways, buildings, and pedestrians while protecting customer property.
- Respond reliably to storm assignments and arrive ready to work, including overnight and weekend events.
- Communicate delays, breakdowns, hazards, access issues, and potential property damage promptly to designated snow leaders.
- Record time, service status, photos, materials used, and issues using Aspire and approved communication tools.
- Complete service closeout and leave equipment ready for the next event.
Qualifications
- Ability to safely operate equipment relevant to the selected track: plow trucks and spreaders, or loaders, skid steers, and other heavy snow equipment.
- Reliable availability for winter storm work, including overnight shifts and weekends throughout the season.
- Ability to follow route instructions, site maps, safety procedures, and equipment-check requirements.
- Sound judgment under pressure, clear communication, and attention to property protection and accurate service records.
- When applying, identify your preferred track or tracks, equipment experience, winter storm availability, licenses or credentials, and relevant snow or field work experience.
Compensation
Plow/Truck Operators: $35$50 per hour. Machine Operators: $40$55 per hour. These are the current seasonal operating pay ranges. Operators formally designated as Site Captains for an entire storm receive a separate captain rate, defined in the offer or assignment terms.
Benefits
- Preseason training covering safety, equipment, routes, and communication.
- Company-provided equipment, PPE, site maps, and property notes appropriate to the assignment.
- Defined operating tracks and route or site expectations, with support from designated snow leaders during operational issues.
- Opportunities for expanded responsibilities, including advanced equipment, larger or more complex routes, and formal Site Captain assignments based on strong performance.
