About Grove Outdoor Services
Grove Outdoor Services is a growing, quality-focused property maintenance company providing commercial and residential landscape maintenance, irrigation, and snow & ice management.
We are looking for dependable, hard-working individuals to join our snow removal team for the upcoming winter season. This is an important role within our company, and we’re looking for people who take pride in doing the job right, show up when they’re needed, and want to become part of a reliable team.
For the right person, this can become a long-term position with Grove, with opportunities to continue working with us in landscaping and property maintenance during the spring, summer, and fall.
Position Overview
As a Snow Removal Technician, you will help keep commercial and residential properties safe, accessible, and properly maintained during snow and ice events.
Snow removal is a weather-dependent, on-call position. When storms occur, employees must be prepared to work early mornings, overnight hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts when necessary.
This position is best suited for someone who understands that snow removal requires reliability, urgency, physical stamina, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Operate snow removal equipment including pickup trucks, snowplows, snow blowers, walk-behind equipment, and other winter maintenance equipment
- Plow and clear driveways, parking lots, private roads, sidewalks, walkways, entrances, and other paved areas
- Perform hand shoveling around entrances, stairs, sidewalks, tight areas, and other locations inaccessible to vehicles
- Operate salt spreaders and push spreaders and apply deicing materials appropriately
- Perform ice management, including identifying and treating icy or hazardous areas
- Clear snow around commercial buildings, homes, garages, doors, loading areas, and pedestrian walkways
- Complete snow and ice removal according to established routes, priorities, and company standards
- Monitor properties throughout and after snow events and address problem areas as needed
- Safely operate vehicles and equipment in snow, ice, low visibility, and other challenging winter conditions
- Perform equipment inspections before and after use and report mechanical issues or damage promptly
- Load, unload, clean, fuel, and properly store snow removal equipment and materials
- Communicate with crew members and management throughout snow events
- Take photos and provide updates when required for completed work or problem areas
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance while representing Grove Outdoor Services
- Follow all company safety procedures and use proper PPE
- Assist with equipment maintenance and winter preparation as needed
- Help with general property maintenance and landscaping work outside of snow events when applicable
What We’re Looking For
Reliability is our #1 priority.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Shows up on time and is ready to work when scheduled or called in
- Understands that snow doesn’t follow a normal 9–5 schedule
- Can reliably respond to overnight, early-morning, weekend, and holiday snow events
- Has a strong work ethic and takes pride in doing quality work
- Can work independently while also functioning well as part of a crew
- Pays attention to detail and doesn’t cut corners
- Communicates clearly with management and coworkers
- Takes care of company vehicles, equipment, and customer properties
- Is comfortable working outside for extended periods in cold, snow, wind, and icy conditions
- Has the physical ability to shovel, push snow, lift equipment/materials, and perform strenuous work for extended periods
- Is willing to learn and take direction
- Has a positive, professional attitude
- Wants to work consistently and potentially grow with the company
Experience
Prior experience in snow removal, landscaping, property maintenance, plowing, construction, or other outdoor work is preferred but not required.
Experience operating any of the following is a plus:
- Pickup trucks and snowplows
- Commercial snow blowers
- Walk-behind snow equipment
- Salt spreaders
- Trailers
- Skid steers, tractors, or other equipment
- Landscaping or property maintenance equipment
A valid driver’s license and a clean/reliable driving record are strongly preferred for employees operating company vehicles.
Important Job Requirements
- Snow removal is different from most seasonal jobs. Dependability is critical.
- You must be willing and able to:
- Work during active snowstorms and winter weather
- Work overnight or very early mornings when conditions require it
- Work weekends and holidays when necessary
- Work extended shifts during significant storms
- Respond to snow events with limited notice
- Perform physically demanding work for extended periods
- Follow assigned routes and complete properties according to company standards
- Communicate promptly if an emergency or issue prevents you from reporting to work
- Missing a snow event or failing to respond when scheduled can have a major impact on our customers and our entire team. We are looking for people we can count on.
Compensation & Opportunity
Snow season compensation: $30.00–$35.00 per hour, based on experience, skill level, and responsibilities.
Off-season compensation: Pay rates for spring, summer, and fall work are different and will be discussed separately based on the position, experience, and responsibilities.
This is a seasonal position, but our goal is to build long-term relationships with dependable employees. Employees who perform well during snow season may have opportunities to continue working with Grove Outdoor Services throughout the year in landscaping, mowing, irrigation, property maintenance, and other services.
We are a growing company and value employees who want to learn, take on additional responsibility, and grow with us.
Benefits
Year-round employees may be eligible for paid time off, health and dental insurance, and other benefits based on position and tenure.
Apply
If you’re dependable, hardworking, comfortable working outdoors in winter weather, and looking for a company where your work is valued, we’d like to hear from you.
