About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Snowflake Administrator to support the administration, optimization, governance, security, and operational management of a business-critical Snowflake data platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience managing Snowflake in production environments, with expertise in Snowflake security/RBAC, performance optimization, cost management, Terraform, GitHub/GitHub Actions, and cloud data platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and support Snowflake environments across Development, Testing, and Production.
• Manage users, service accounts, roles, and permissions following Snowflake RBAC and security best practices.
• Configure, maintain, and optimize Snowflake virtual warehouses for performance and cost efficiency.
• Monitor platform health, query performance, warehouse utilization, and overall resource consumption.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Snowflake performance, access, security, and operational issues.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Support CI/CD processes using GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Implement Snowflake cost-monitoring and optimization strategies and provide recommendations to reduce platform consumption.
• Partner with data engineering, analytics, and application teams to support data pipelines and operational requirements.
• Support data platform migration initiatives, including Snowflake on GCP and BigQuery migration projects.
• Maintain technical documentation, governance standards, runbooks, and operational procedures.
• Participate in platform upgrades, enhancements, incident resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in database administration, data platform engineering, or cloud data warehouse administration.
• Strong hands-on experience administering Snowflake in production environments.
• Deep understanding of:
• Snowflake RBAC
• User and service-account provisioning
• Role and permission management
• Snowflake security and governance
• Warehouse configuration and optimization
• Experience with auto-suspend/auto-resume, multi-cluster warehouses, resource monitors, and workload optimization.
• Advanced SQL skills with experience troubleshooting and optimizing query performance.
• Hands-on experience with SNOWFLAKE.ACCOUNT_USAGE and INFORMATION_SCHEMA.
• Strong experience managing Snowflake resources using Terraform.
• Experience with GitHub and GitHub Actions.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix environments and shell scripting.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with BigQuery administration or migration projects.
• Familiarity with Python and modern data engineering workflows.
• Experience supporting dbt, Kafka, or similar data pipeline technologies.
• Knowledge of data lakehouse architectures.
• Experience working in large-scale enterprise data environments.

Salary

$70 - $80 per hour
