Job Overview

Duties

• Provide targeted tutoring in key subjects such as English language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies, tailored to each student’s learning style and needs
• Assist students with college readiness skills, including note-taking, organization, time management, and critical thinking strategies aligned with the AVID framework
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate curriculum development principles and learning technology tools to enhance instruction
• Support students in understanding and applying academic content through online instruction platforms and interactive learning resources
• Adapt teaching methods to accommodate diverse cultural backgrounds, special education needs, and varying learning styles for maximum engagement and comprehension
• Foster a positive classroom atmosphere by managing behavior effectively and encouraging active participation among students of all ages
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to monitor student progress and adjust tutoring approaches accordingly
• Support teachers and school staff in all aspects of student success
• Professional email etiquette and communication with colleagues
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Prior experience tutoring or teaching in academic subjects such as English language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development techniques and familiarity with learning technology tools used for online instruction
• Demonstrated ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse learning styles and special education requirements
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students from various cultural backgrounds
• Experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings or childcare environments
• Ability to plan engaging lessons that align with educational standards and promote critical thinking skills
• Familiarity with classroom management practices and experience working with students of different age groups including early childhood or preschool settings is a plus
