Join Hospice Wairarapa
Hospice Wairarapa provides specialist psycho-social palliative care and support to people approaching the end of life, together with the family and whānau who walk alongside them. Our service is grounded in dignity, choice, connection, and holistic wellbeing, supporting people to live as fully as possible and to remain connected to what matters most.
We are seeking a Social Worker or Social Work Assistant to join our multidisciplinary team. This role provides practical, emotional, social, and advocacy support that helps patients, families, and whānau navigate the challenges and decisions that can arise at the end of life. Working alongside clinical colleagues and community partners, you will contribute to coordinated, person-centered care that supports people wherever they call home.
The role is suitable for either a qualified Social Worker or an experienced Social Work Assistant, including someone working towards a social work qualification.
About the Role
As part of our specialist palliative care team, you will work alongside nurses, doctors, counsellors, volunteers, and community providers to support people receiving hospice care.
You will help patients and whānau navigate the challenges associated with end-of-life by providing psychosocial support, advocacy, information, and referrals. You will also contribute to coordinated care planning and help strengthen connections with community and health services across Wairarapa.

We offer:
Meaningful and rewarding work.
Flexible part-time hours.
