Position Overview

Check Defense is a fast-growing federal contractor seeking a highly capable SOF Communications Instructor who serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) supporting Naval Special Warfare (NSW) training operations by delivering advanced communications and navigation instruction to Special Boat Teams (SBTs). This position provides expertise in current and emerging communications technologies, Blue Force Tracking systems, cryptographic management, and combat communications integration in support of NSW mission requirements.

The successful candidate will augment active-duty training cadre through curriculum development, classroom instruction, practical field exercises, and combat systems integration support. The instructor will also assist with training planning, logistics coordination, emerging technology integration, and operational training exercises to ensure students are prepared for real-world Special Operations missions.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide advanced communications and navigation systems instruction to personnel within the Naval Special Warfare surface mobility community.
• Deliver training on current and emerging communications technologies, tactical communications systems, Blue Force Tracking platforms, and cryptographic (COMSEC) management procedures.
• Develop, maintain, and update training curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional materials to support Individual Deployment Training Cycle (IDTC) requirements.
• Assist with schedule development, curriculum management, and logistical planning for communications training programs.
• Coordinate and provide liaison support with NSW organizations and other Special Operations entities to identify, evaluate, and integrate emerging communications technologies into training programs.
• Conduct classroom instruction, practical field training, mission rehearsals, and final training exercises.
• Augment active-duty NSW training cadre with communications subject matter expertise and instructional support.
• Support echelon IV-level combat systems integration efforts and associated communications training requirements.
• Evaluate student performance and provide remediation, mentorship, and performance feedback.
• Perform as Opposing Forces (OPFOR) during training exercises to enhance mission realism and student readiness.
• Manage consumable supplies and equipment associated with communications training events.
• Participate in after-action reviews (AARs), training assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure training complies with current NSW doctrine, operational procedures, and security requirements.

Required Qualifications

• S. Citizen.
• Active SECRET Security Clearance with eligibility to obtain and maintain TS/SCI access.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience within the last ten (10) years as a Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (SWCC)****.
• Must have achieved SWCC Senior Qualification in accordance with COMNAVSPECWARGRUFOURINST 3120.3E.
• SWCC Senior Qualification must not have been revoked or removed for administrative or disciplinary reasons.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a Navy/Naval Special Warfare Instructor.
• Experience providing classroom instruction, practical training, and operational mentorship within an NSW training environment.
• Knowledge of tactical communications systems, navigation systems, Blue Force Tracking capabilities, and cryptographic management procedures.
• Experience supporting training planning, scheduling, curriculum development, and instructional delivery.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting NSW surface mobility operations and training programs.
• Familiarity with emerging communications, networking, and mission command technologies.
• Experience supporting combat systems integration efforts within Naval Special Warfare environments.
• Prior experience serving as communications, navigation, or tactical systems Subject Matter Expert.
• Experience supporting Joint Special Operations training exercises.
• Strong leadership, instructional, and mentoring capabilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Proficiency in developing instructional materials and updating curriculum based on emerging operational requirements.
