Key Responsibilities

• Measure and Cut: Lay out, measure, and cut fabric, leather, vinyl, and foam padding accurately using patterns, stencils, or blueprints.
• Assembly and Padding: Install and repair springs, webbing, padding, underlays, and insulation materials onto wooden, metal, or specialized frames.
• Stitching and Sewing: Operate industrial sewing machines or hand-sew materials to create clean seams, cushions, and tailored covers.
• Finishing: Stretch, tack, staple, or glue covering materials smoothly and securely onto frames; attach buttons, trims, and decorative accessories.
• Repair and Restoration: Inspect damaged furniture or vehicle interiors, remove old coverings, repair underlying frames or structures, and refurbish items to high-quality standards.
• Quality Control: Inspect finished work for alignment, defects, or loose fittings and correct any issues before final delivery.
• Maintenance and Safety: Keep tools and equipment in safe working order, follow all workshop safety regulations, and maintain a clean work area

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience: Proven experience (typically 2+ years) working as an upholsterer in a manufacturing, automotive, or furniture-restoration environment.
• Technical Skills:
• Proficient with hand and power tools (staple guns, tack hammers, shears, webbing stretchers, and hot-knife cutters).
• Skilled in operating industrial sewing machines.
• Strong knowledge of different textiles, leather grades, foam densities, and adhesives.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and lift heavy furniture or components for extended periods.
• Soft Skills: High attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Education: High school diploma or vocational training certification in upholstery/craftsmanship is an asset.
