Software Analyst

Job Objective/Summary

To analyze, design, and optimize software systems by gathering requirements, assessing business processes, and identifying opportunities for improvement.

The Software Analyst bridges the gap between business operations and technology by analyzing requirements, improving insurance systems, and supporting digital transformation initiatives. This role involves evaluating business processes, optimizing software solutions, and ensuring applications meet operational and regulatory requirements. Acting as a key liaison between stakeholders and development teams, the Software Analyst ensures technical solutions align with business objectives and deliver efficient, scalable, and high-quality applications.

Requirements Gathering and Analysis

· Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand insurance-specific needs (e.g., underwriting, claims processing, policy management).

· Gather and analyze requirements from internal stakeholders.

· Prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and Functional Specification Documents (FSD).

System Design and Specification

· Analyze existing systems and identify improvement opportunities.

· Translate business requirements into detailed technical

· Ensure system designs align with business process and performance requirements.

· Work with outsourced software vendors to design scalable and compliant insurance solutions fit for purpose.

· Document and align API to work effectively and efficiently on all e-channels services and other related business partners.

· Design workflows and process automations with API structures where necessary.

· Recommend suitable technologies, frameworks, and tools for projects.

Software Testing and Quality Assurance

· Prepare test cases and test scenarios.

· Conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT), System Integration Testing (SIT) and Regression testing.

· Validate that systems meet business and regulatory requirements.

· Document defects and track resolution.

Perform System Integration and Digital Transformation Initiatives

· Integrate third-party APIs and external software services.

· Configure payment gateways, authentication systems, and cloud services.

· Support automation and innovation projects such as:

Online policy issuance, Chatbots, API integrations, Payment gateway integration and automated claims processing.

· Recommend technology improvements to enhance customer experience.

Stakeholder Communication

· Act as a liaison between business units (e.g., underwriting, Claims, Reinsurance, customer service) and IT teams.

· Work closely with product owners during planning.

· Ensure that software solutions align with regulatory requirements and business goals.

Develop and Maintain Applications

· Build backend services, APIs, and application logic.

· Develop responsive and user-friendly frontend interfaces.

· Maintain and upgrade existing software applications.

· Refactor code to improve scalability and maintainability.

· Ensure applications meet functional and performance standards.

Documentation and Training

· Maintain clear documentation of systems, processes, and changes.

· Provide training and support to end-users on new systems or features.

· Document application features, APIs, and workflows.

· Create deployment guides and system configuration manuals.

· Maintain records of software updates and technical changes.

· Prepare user manuals and operational documentation.

· Ensure documentation is updated throughout the software lifecycle.

Support Change Management, Deployment and Continuous Improvement

· Support applications deployment to staging and production environments.

· Monitor live applications and resolve post-deployment issues.

· Gather feedback from users to improve software functionality.

· Coordinate software upgrades and releases.

· Assess business impact of system changes.

· Prepare release notes and deployment plans.

· Support changes in advisory processes and post-implementation reviews.

Regulatory and Compliance Support

· Ensure systems comply with:

· NAICOM regulations

· NDPA/data privacy requirements

· Internal audit controls

· ISO standards where applicable

· Support audit evidence gathering and compliance reviews.

Educational Qualification(s)

· Bachelor’s Degree Preferably in:

o Computer Science

o Information Technology

o Computer Engineering

o Software Engineering

o Or any relevant field

MSc. Or MBA is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience

· 2–3 years of relevant experience in software analysis, business analysis, systems support, or related IT Experience in any of the backend software development using, PHP, ASP.NET, C# and others

· Experience in software analysis, system design, and business requirement documentation

· Experience working with APIs, microservices architecture, authentication and authorization systems

· Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable software solutions

· Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing, implementation, and support processes

· Familiarity with insurance systems, financial systems, or enterprise applications is an added advantage.

· Understanding of databases, APIs, system integrations, and reporting tools.

· Exposure to digital transformation projects, process automation, or system optimization initiatives.

· Proficiency in documentation tools, process mapping, and data analysis techniques.

· Strong problem-solving, communication, and project coordination skills.

Professional Qualification

Professional certifications such as:

· Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP)

· Certification of Capability in Business Analysis (CCBA)

· PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)

· Agile Analysis Certification (AAC)

· Microsoft Certified

· Oracle Certified

· AWS or Azure certifications

· Certified Scrum Master (CSM)

Knowledge or certification in IT Service Management such as ITIL is an advantage.

Knowledge and Skills

· Backend Development (PHP, ASP.NET Core, C#, REST APIs)

· Database Design and Management (MariaDB, SQL Server, PostgreSQL)

· Software Analysis and Requirement Gathering

· Microservices Architecture and API Integration

· Authentication & Authorization (JWT, RBAC, Identity Management)

· Version Control using Git

· Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems

· Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

· Documentation and technical reporting

Pay: ₦400,000.00 - ₦600,000.00 per month
