Software Architect

For our client, we are seeking a Software Architect to join the team of a leader in the Information Technology space.

This role will shape scalable architecture for high-volume, distributed systems that support critical transactional workflows. You will own technical direction for major initiatives, partnering closely with engineering and product teams to improve performance, reliability, and consistency across services. The position also offers the opportunity to apply modern AI tools in production environments while helping define clear patterns and data contracts for both human and machine use.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $185,400 – $231,800 annually

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve architectural solutions to improve system performance and scalability
• Own the technical roadmap and design for major initiatives within the exchange domain
• Maintain core patterns and data contracts for team use, ensuring clarity for both humans and AI
• Drive consistency in technologies and patterns across services
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate architectural thinking into planning and delivery
• Contribute hands-on to prototypes and production systems that demonstrate scalable design
• Set performance and reliability targets, and lead testing to ensure they are met before peak events

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of professional software engineering experience, particularly in large-scale distributed systems
• Experience with high-volume transactional systems, ideally in trading or financial environments
• Strong knowledge of messaging systems, with hands-on expertise in Kafka preferred
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization, particularly in Go and .NET/C#
• Understanding of contract-first design protocols such as FIX, gRPC, and Protobuf
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including appropriate use cases
• Practical experience using AI tools in production environments
