Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Software Build & Release Manager to oversee software configuration management, build automation, and release processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Git/Bitbucket, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines, and software release coordination. This role requires strong knowledge of branching strategies, change control, release documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to ensure reliable, controlled, and timely software releases.

Experience in DevOps practices, SAFe environments, and aerospace or avionics software configuration processes is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage software configuration, build, and release management activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Maintain and manage source code repositories using Git and Bitbucket.
• Develop, configure, and maintain Jenkins-based build automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish and enforce branching strategies, version control standards, and change-control procedures.
• Coordinate software builds, release schedules, deployment readiness, and release activities.
• Use Jira to track release milestones, changes, defects, and software configuration activities.
• Perform or coordinate smoke testing to verify build integrity and release readiness.
• Prepare and maintain release notes, build records, configuration baselines, and other release documentation.
• Collaborate with software developers, DevOps engineers, QA teams, and other stakeholders to resolve build and release issues.
• Support DevOps practices and Agile/SAFe software development processes.
• Maintain awareness of DO-178 configuration control principles and applicable aerospace software processes.
• Coordinate stakeholder communications, release handoffs, and knowledge-transfer activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve build efficiency, release reliability, automation, and configuration management practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in software configuration management and software build and release management.
• Strong experience with Git and/or Bitbucket for source code management and version control.
• Practical experience with Jenkins and CI/CD pipeline management.
• Experience implementing or maintaining automated software build processes.
• Knowledge of branching strategies, merging, versioning, and change-control procedures.
• Experience using Jira for issue tracking, release planning, and change management.
• Experience preparing software release documentation and maintaining configuration records.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and release governance.
• Strong communication, coordination, problem-solving, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple release activities and coordinate across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DevOps practices and SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework).
• Experience performing or coordinating smoke testing and release verification.
• Familiarity with DO-178 configuration control processes.
• Experience working in aerospace, avionics, embedded software, or other regulated software environments.
• Experience coordinating releases involving multiple development, testing, and engineering teams.
• Strong knowledge-transfer, documentation, and process-improvement capabilities.
