Software Control Engineer

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop control software and programmes for automated manufacturing systems and equipment
• Program and configure Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) and other industrial control systems
• Test, troubleshoot and debug control software to ensure optimal system performance and reliability
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and project teams to integrate hardware and software components effectively
• Maintain and update existing control systems and software documentation
• Conduct system simulations and performance testing to validate control logic and functionality
• Provide technical support and training to operational staff on control system usage and maintenance
• Identify opportunities for system improvements and process optimisation
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all control system implementations

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or a related discipline
• Proven experience in software development and control system programming, preferably in manufacturing or automation environments
• Strong proficiency in PLC programming languages such as Ladder Logic, Structured Text (ST) or Function Block Diagram (FBD)
• Hands-on experience with industrial control systems and HMI software platforms
• Solid understanding of automation systems, sensors, actuators and industrial communication protocols
• Proficiency in using SCADA systems and data acquisition tools
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
• Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, reliable solutions
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and lean principles is advantageous
• Knowledge of relevant industry standards such as IEC 61131-3 is preferred
