Software Controls Engineer

A Software Controls Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment to join our Dublin based client. The role will focus on the continuous development of the User Interface and control software for complex high performance instruments – integrating and managing a wide range of hardware and software interfaces.

Role

• Developing and maintaining Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) for complex scientific instrumentation
• Developing and integrating instrument control interfaces, including Serial, TCP/IP, MQTT, and other communication protocols
• Developing and maintaining Data Acquisition solutions
• Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and firmware issues
• Supporting system integration, testing, and debugging across multiple levels of the system
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop reliable and robust control solutions
• Contributing to the continuous improvement of the software architecture, development processes, and overall system performance

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline
• Two plus years’ experience preferably in the development of complex PC-based systems
• Proven experience developing and maintaining software for complex, integrated systems
• Intermediate to advanced LabVIEW development skills
• Intermediate to advanced Python development skills
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
• Experience in one or more of the following advantageous : SQL/ My SQL, C#, JavaScript – Vue.js
