Role & responsibilities

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Lead ETL Operations to drive and manage production support for our data integration pipelines. The role involves leading L1 and L2 teams, ensuring incident resolution within SLAs, managing operational escalations, performing root cause analysis, and continuously improving support processes.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership & Incident Management

Act as the primary escalation point for critical (P1/P2) ETL incidents and outages.

Own and drive incident triage, resolution, and communication across support, development, and business teams.

Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and ensure timely documentation and follow-up.

Team & Process Ownership

Lead L1 and L2 support teams, including task prioritization, shift planning, and knowledge sharing.

Ensure SLAs and KPIs for incident resolution, job monitoring, and support activities are consistently met.

Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and operational playbooks.

Participates in planning capacity, onboarding new workflows, KT plans

Monitoring, Scheduling & Automation

Own the ETL job monitoring framework; ensure effective alerting, escalation, and response.

Oversee job scheduling and orchestration tools (e.g., Control-M, Airflow, Autosys), coordinating updates and enhancements as needed.

Identify and implement automation and tooling improvements to reduce manual effort and improve response time.

Stakeholder Engagement

Interface with development teams, data owners, and business stakeholders to communicate support issues and planned changes.

Lead operational review meetings, provide weekly/monthly reports, and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Change & Release Support

Coordinate minor ETL enhancements, hotfixes, and production deployments in collaboration with development and release teams.

Ensure change tickets are well-documented, tested, and approved.

People Development

Mentor and coach L1/L2 engineers.

Conduct KT sessions, track skill gaps, and ensure documentation hygiene across the support team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

3+ years of experience in ETL development and/or operations.

Proven track record of leading production support teams in a 24x7 or critical data environment.

Strong hands-on knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS, DataStage).

Proficient in SQL, python, PySpark and data warehouse concepts.

Experience with job orchestration/scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Airflow, Autosys).

Familiarity with incident management and ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira).

Solid understanding of root cause analysis, incident workflows, and SLA-based support.

Exposure to cloud-based data platforms (AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, etc.) is a plus.

Strong communication and leadership skills.
