Role Overview

Expedier is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Developer to design, develop, test and maintain reliable, scalable and secure software solutions. The ideal candidate will contribute to building and enhancing our technology products, developing application features, integrating APIs and improving system performance in a fast-paced fintech environment.

The successful candidate should demonstrate strong programming skills, problem-solving abilities, attention to detail and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software aligned with business and product requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain scalable, efficient and reliable software applications and services.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-documented code in line with engineering standards and best practices.
• Develop and maintain frontend and backend features based on product requirements and technical specifications.
• Build responsive, user-friendly interfaces in collaboration with UI/UX Designers and Product Managers.
• Develop, integrate and maintain APIs, backend services and third-party integrations to support product functionality.
• Participate in software architecture discussions, technical planning and implementation of engineering solutions.
• Conduct unit testing, integration testing, debugging and code reviews to ensure software quality, security and reliability.
• Identify, troubleshoot and resolve software defects, performance issues and production incidents.
• Optimise application performance, scalability, responsiveness and maintainability.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, Senior Engineers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver projects within agreed timelines.
• Participate in agile development activities, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog reviews and project discussions.
• Provide accurate task estimates, communicate progress and proactively escalate technical challenges, blockers and potential delays.
• Maintain technical documentation covering application features, APIs, system architecture, workflows and development processes.
• Follow version control practices, maintain organised code repositories and support efficient development workflows.
• Implement secure coding practices and adhere to company security policies, data protection requirements and applicable fintech compliance standards.
• Monitor emerging technologies, development tools and software engineering practices, recommending improvements where appropriate.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, technical knowledge sharing and engineering process enhancements.
• Support software deployment, post-release monitoring and ongoing maintenance.
• Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
• 4–7 years of relevant experience in software development or software engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language and experience developing production software applications.
• Experience with frontend and/or backend development, APIs, databases and software integrations.
• Familiarity with software development frameworks, version control systems such as Git, testing methodologies and deployment processes.
• Understanding of software architecture, data structures, algorithms and coding best practices.
• Knowledge of secure software development practices, data protection and application security principles.
• Experience with agile development methodologies and collaborative engineering workflows.
• Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and produce clear technical documentation.
• Good communication, teamwork and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and deliver tasks within agreed timelines.
• Experience in fintech, payments, financial technology or other high-availability systems is an advantage.

Pay: From ₦450,000.00 per month
