About E-Sign

E-Sign is a secure document management and contract automation company providing electronic signatures, document management, translation automation and identity verification solutions. We work with businesses, governments and organisations to provide secure, flexible digital solutions and integrations.

We are looking for a Junior Software Developer to join our Development Team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their software development career who wants to develop their technical skills while working on a growing SaaS platform.

You don't need previous experience in electronic signatures. We're looking for someone with a good foundation in software development, a willingness to learn and a genuine interest in building secure, reliable software.

What you will be doing

Working alongside experienced developers, you will:

• Work collaboratively with the tech/customer support team to help resolve bugs reported by customers
• Assist with the development of new features and functionality.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code.
• Learn and apply test-driven development practices.
• Help investigate, reproduce and fix bugs.
• Support website and application updates.
• Assist with building and maintaining APIs and integrations with third-party software.
• Take part in code reviews and learn from more experienced members of the Development Team.
• Help test changes before they are released.
• Maintain appropriate technical documentation.
• Develop your knowledge of secure software development and SaaS applications.

What we're looking for

Essential

• A good foundation in software development and programming principles.
• Some knowledge of Ruby, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript or similar technologies gained through employment, university, college, a coding course or personal projects.
• Basic understanding of web technologies such as HTML and CSS.
• An understanding of APIs and how different applications communicate.
• An understanding of databases and basic data structures.
• A willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

The following would be beneficial, but aren't essential:

• Experience with Ruby on Rails.
• Knowledge of Git or other version-control tools.
• Experience creating or consuming REST APIs.
• Experience with automated testing or test-driven development.
• Knowledge of SQL or relational databases.
• Experience developing a personal, university or commercial software project.
• An understanding of SaaS applications.
• An interest in application security and secure development.
• Familiarity with cloud-based software development.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: R15 000,00 - R22 000,00 per month
